Dear Chancellor Christ,

I urge you to protect the tenants at 1921 Walnut St. and to stop any redevelopment of 1921 Walnut St. in downtown Berkeley. UC should not be evicting long-term and rent-controlled tenants, and permanently destroying affordable housing stock in Berkeley, especially during an affordable housing crisis. I understand UC has scoped out 12 other sites for housing and so UC does not need to evict these tenants in order to build new housing for its students. Please do the right thing and halt all plans to displace these tenants and pledge to not evict these tenants. I look forward to a swift resolution of this issue.
